Ladie Butterfly's Bus Conversion

Base Floor and More

Picture
After ripping all the black rubber off the floor the the floor was painted with a green epoxy paint. That stuff was as hard as nails when it dried. After that tar paper was laid for mositure barrier then we laid 1/4" plywood down and painted it. We use the plywood off the back of the bus seats cut into rectangles to lay in the floor. Each panel laid had to be srewed down too. So to this date I have a count of over 10 pounds of screws used and over 2 dozen drill bits of one size that either broke or shattered. The framing went up as we had supplies slow but happening. The kitchen area, the dinette, and the bunks went up easy enough. The master bed will be at the end of the bus. Decided on queen size, I think if i had to do it over I would put a king but i need the space at the front for the living area.

Hard Wood Floor

Picture
As you can see we have most of the insulation in the walls by now. The hardwood floors that were put in were a darker color then wanted but the price was right. The walls will be a lighter color to brighten things up and the ceiling will be a tongue and grove that can be stained or just vanrished over to keep the light color (all in good time). I personally am going to leave them natural color. Under the tongue and grove I plan to put vinyl backed insulation that they use in metal buildings. I can thank my older brother for that suggestion. The cool thing is it comes in 6' x 26'  or  6' x 30' (I beleieve that is what the sales man told me.)

Bunks & Windows

Picture
We took the two small side windows from the Winnie to put at the bunks to allow airflow and a little light not much but some. After paneling everything but around the windows I had to build frames to attach the paneling too. I got part way and this is where the spary foam came in handy. Sprayed the bottom half put the other panel up and proceeded to fill the top half. Now I thought its insulated.

More Paneling Heating Duct at Dinette

Picture
I am slowly getting the paneling up on the dinette frame. I got the heater duct in and mounted so now when the heater runs it will plow out under the table. I have been thinking of adding some tubular duct work to runs some of the heat down and out from under the stove and into the toilet area. It would only be on while the bus is running but it still would help to disribute the heat toward the back while driving. I have almost all the paneling up then I will start work on the doors for the under the sink. Before any trim goes up I plan to take a hand sander to all the wood so that I will have a clean surfuse to paint or stain...I am thinking paint...light color.

Supplies & Parts

We got an offer to come gut an old 25 foot travel trailer because the people wanted to turn it into a hauling trailer. We got stove, frig, water heater, water storage tanks and other odds and ends. A few months later we got a 20ft Winnie (winabego). They accually brought it to us that was cool because we could take our time taking it apart.  We took the all kinds of things for that. Stove, frig, toilet, shower pan, black water tank, heater, and another hot water tank.   We proceeded to hook everything up to propane to see what worked and what didn't. One thing about it I have spare parts now.
Home Depot has come in handy for tools, screws, lumber and any thing else I feel I need new.
